Matthew Stafford was in great demand after he and the Detroit Lions made a mutual decision to part ways at the end of January. The list of NFL teams interested in Stafford's services grew quickly before the Los Angeles Rams pulled the trigger and acquired him.

The Rams gave up former No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff, plus two future first-round picks in 2022 and 2023, and their 2021 third-round pick to land Stafford.

But it's now been revealed that the Carolina Panthers were serious Stafford suitors. The Panthers joined the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos as teams that also made significant trade offers for Matthew Stafford.

The Carolina Panthers also offered their starting quarterback and a sweet draft package for Stafford as well.

According to reports, Carolina put together a package of the No. 8 overall selection this year, a 2021 fifth-round pick and starting QB Teddy Bridgewater, whom the team signed as a free agent less than a year ago.

The Lions made quite a haul to build their den for the future. But the Panthers' offer and a top-10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft had to be enticing, as the Lions are already set to draft a top player at No. 7 overall this year.

The Panthers may still target a quarterback with their top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
