The Carolina Panthers hope that sophomore cornerback Jaycee Horn has better luck in 2022 than he did as a rookie. The promising defender's first NFL campaign ended prematurely due to a foot fracture and now soreness in that same foot landed him on the PUP list just last week.

Fortunately for Panthers fans, Horn's time on the sidelines is over. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that Carolina activated the 22-year-old from the PUP list on Monday. The plan is to slowly bring him back into the team's activities, but all signs point to him being fully healthy for the upcoming year.

Jaycee Horn Injury Update

There was a ton of hype surrounding Horn ahead of the 2021 NFL season. He was as perfect as can be during the preseason and was seen as someone who could really help the Panthers secondary. Funny enough, Carolina's passing defense was still strong without him, giving up only 192.1 yards through the air per game (No. 3).

It's a small sample size, but Horn did show promise in the three games he played last year. He gave up only two completions 18 yards and a touchdown on seven targets, also recording five tackles, a defended pass and a 13-yard interception against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2.

Considering that Horn played at least 93% of defensive tackles in the two games that he finished, it's clear that the Panthers have high hopes for the former eighth overall pick. Along with fellow CBs Donte Jackson and C.J. Henderson, Carolina's secondary could surprise people this fall.

If Horn stays healthy, he has all the tools to be a Pro-Bowl player one day. Only time will tell if that'll happen as soon as this season or if Panthers fans will have to wait a little bit longer.

Panthers Playoff Odds

The Panthers have made the postseason just once in the last six years, meaning they'll rely on Horn to help get them back there. Unfortunately, that'll be easier said than done. FanDuel Sportsbook currently favors the Panthers to miss the 2022-23 NFL playoffs at -600 odds.
