Chuba Hubbard was expected to step up and help lead the Carolina Panthers' backfield after they traded away Christian McCaffrey, especially after Hubbard rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown in the first game after McCaffrey's departure. He hasn't played since then, however, as he's been dealing with an ankle injury.
On Friday, the Panthers made a final decision on Hubbard's status for Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Chuba Hubbard Injury Update
Unfortunately for Carolina, Hubbard will not be able to suit up on Sunday.
Hubbard's absence puts D'Onta Foreman in line to lead the Panthers' backfield again. Foreman has rushed for 118 yards in each of his last two games, racking up 41 carries and 3 touchdowns.
Foreman will try to pop off for another massive performance in Cincinnati this weekend, where Carolina is a 7-point road underdog against the reigning AFC champions on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds. The Bengals just allowed Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb to torch them for 101 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on Monday, which bodes well for Foreman's outlook.
As for Hubbard, he'll try to make it back for the Panthers' Thursday Night Football showdown against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10. FanDuel's Week 10 NFL odds have Carolina listed as 1.5-point home underdogs for that NFC South rivalry game.
