The Carolina Panthers suffered an embarrassing blowout loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9, and it resulted in consequences Monday morning. The franchise fired a pair of assistant coaches on Monday in Evan Cooper and Paul Pasqualoni.

Monday also brought a new wrinkle of drama for interim head coach Steve Wilks. Quarterback Sam Darnold was officially activated off the IR after a high-ankle sprain before the season began. Now the Panthers must deal with three uninspiring options at QB.

Ahead of a short week and Thursday Night Football clash in Week 10, Wilks was quick to make his decision at QB.

P.J. Walker will start in TNF's clash with the Atlanta Falcons, despite his first half benching on Sunday. Walker completed just 3-of-10 passes and threw 2 interceptions before he was benched for Baker Mayfield. The Panthers trailed 35-0 at halftime.

Walker's starting role is more indicative of a short week than any future plans Wilks may have with Darnold. Don't be surprised if Darnold is starting against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11, especially if Walker struggles again.
