After four straight losing seasons, the Carolina Panthers enter NFL Draft week with two glaring needs at quarterback and offensive tackle. Free agency has all but come to a screeching halt, so there's no better place to address these needs than the upcoming draft.
Fortunately, Carolina has six picks, including the No. 6 overall selection to work with.
Draft rumors are swirling around the league, including the Panthers being linked to a top offensive tackle. NFL Draft insider Todd McShay reported on Saturday morning the Panthers are "connected" to Mississippi State tackle Charles Cross.

He also notes that the New York Giants, who pick fifth in the first round, are another team with ties to Cross.

New York possesses picks No. 5 and No. 7, so it's any guess what they'll do. McShay also reported the Giants are interested in bolstering their edge rusher position but may have an opportunity to scoop up Cross before the Panthers can.
Cross is one of three offensive tackles projected with easy top-10 potential. He stands tall at 6-foot-7 and 307 pounds, and is known for his fierce blocking techniques despite a non-elite level of athleticism.
The Mississippi State product 25 appearances during his college days, including a breakout performance last year where he allowed only 2.0 sacks in 919 offensive snaps.
Cross heads into NFL Draft week as a -350 favorite to be a top-10 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, according to NFL Draft Odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
