San Diego Padres beat writer Kevin Acee reports that Padres pitcher Dinelson Lamet will make his first start of the season in Wednesday's series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Dinelson Lamet Injury Update

Lamet began the season on the IL as he continued to work his way back from an elbow injury that required him to be shut down at the end of the regular season and miss the playoffs altogether in 2020.

The right-hander from the Dominican Republic finished the season 3-1 with a 2.09 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. His performance was good enough for a fourth-place finish in the NL Cy Young voting.

San Diego is loaded with starting pitching, so there hasn't been a need to rush him back. He'll likely be limited to a pitch count or innings limit, depending on whichever one comes first. He's 1-0 in two starts against the Brewers, and last faced them in 2019.
