The Green Bay Packers have been left looking for another legitimate wide receiver after Davnte Adams was moved to the Las Vegas Raiders last month. Although the Packers could find Adams' successor at the 2022 NFL Draft, the latest team rumors link them to a certain standout wideout.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Thursday that the Packers — along with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets — have recently called the Houston Texans about Brandin Cooks. With the Texans set to enter a new era, it makes sense that a contending team like Green Bay would inquire about the 28-year-old.

Cooks has been one of the more underrated wide receivers since making his NFL debut in 2014. He's since finished with at least 1,000 receiving yards in six of the last seven seasons. Since 2015, Cooks ranks 12th in receptions (520), seventh in receiving yards (7,367) and 13th in receiving touchdowns (43).

What's impressive is that Cooks managed to stay productive in 2021 despite having to deal with a rookie in Davis Mills and a past-his-prime Tyrod Taylor throwing him the ball. Many other wideouts would struggle in the same situation, but not him.

The veteran WR finished last season with 1,037 yards and six TDs on 90 receptions, making it hard not to like the prospects of what Cooks could do with four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers targeting him.

Cooks is also a free agent after the 2022 NFL season concludes, making him a low-risk option for the Packers if things don't work out. Fortunately, his past results indicate that he'll likely remain productive wherever he goes.

Managing to acquire Cooks would likely boost Green Bay's championship prospects next season. The Packers currently have +1100 odds Super Bowl Odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
