Now that football's offseason is in full swing, fans and experts alike are turning their attention ahead to April's 2022 NFL Draft. One of the teams that'll be busy that week is the Green Bay Packers, who have nine draft picks ready to go — including six in the first five rounds.
While there's no guarantee who Green Bay will select, ESPN's Todd McShay's latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft will have Packers fans excited with the great value he sees them getting at Pick No. 28.
Packers Mock Draft
McShay has the Packers selecting Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt with the 28th overall selection. Even though fans may want the Packers to draft a high-end wide receiver to convince Aaron Rodgers to stay, it's hard not to love Wyatt's game.
The 2021 second-team All-American defender had a career year in his final collegiate campaign, setting personal bests when it comes to tackles (39), tackles for a loss (7.0), sacks (2.5) and forced fumbles (2). He's also quick for a 6-foot-3, 315-pound athlete, drawing a lot of praise from scouts.
McShay points out how the Packers allowed the third-most yards per carry during the 2021 NFL season, which is why it makes sense that they'd bring Wyatt in to clog any holes.
At the end of the day, the Packers consistently have one of the best offenses in the NFL, and addressing their defense should be a top priority come April. Drafting Wyatt not only helps the team now but gives them a reliable force on defense for years to come.
The 2022 NFL Draft kicks of on Thursday, April 28 from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
