Packers Finally Spend First-Round Pick on Offensive Firepower in Todd McShay's Latest Mock Draft

The Green Bay Packers have arguably the most complicated offseason of any team in the NFL. The decision of future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers on whether he wants to retire, come back to Green Bay or play for another team looms large over Lambeau Field.
While that might be out of the Packers' control for now, one thing they can control to an extent is the NFL Draft and who they select in it.
Packers Mock Draft 2023
ESPN's NFL Draft expert, Todd McShay, released his latest Mock Draft on Tuesday, and he's got the Packers going with Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer.

For years, the Packers have been criticized for not selecting a first-round wide receiver, despite it being a massive need for them seemingly every year. While Mayer isn't a wide receiver, he is an impressive pass-catching tight end.
It would be ironic for Green Bay to finally get the offense some help in the year Rodgers finally decides to leave, but regardless of who's under center in Week 1, this pick will be welcomed and helpful,
Mayer hauled in 67 catches for 809 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2022. In 2021, he was just as good, grabbing 71 catches for 840 yards and 7 touchdowns.
If he can bring that level of production to the NFL, he will be a huge addition to the Packers' passing attack alongside promising youngsters Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.
