Making it to the NFC Championship last year capped off a strong season for the Green Bay Packers. But fans can't help but be disappointed by their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

And the catalyst of much of that disappointment was the poor play of cornerback Kevin King, getting routinely burned in that loss.

Well, Packers fans aren't going to like the latest news around King — the team has inked him to a new contract.

The frustration around King doesn't just stem from one game, either.

He allowed a whopping 10.2 yards per target when thrown at in coverage (85 targets) in 2019, and ProFootballFocus gave him an ugly overall grade of 55.7 in 2020.

A $6 million contract may not seem like a lot, but considering the Packers rank bottom-12 in the NFL in cap space, that is a pretty significant chunk of change.

Green Bay has still yet to sign a free agent who wasn't already on the team in 2020, and unless an Aaron Rodgers restructure gets done, don't expect any impactful moves before the draft.

Packers fans will of course hope that King can turn things around and have a bounce-back season in 2021, but watching him play every week is going to be a painful reminder of that NFC Championship collapse.
