Packers Defender Ruled Out for Rest of Regular Season

The Green Bay Packers are fighting for their playoff lives down the stretch. Green Bay likely needs to win out just to have a chance at making the postseason with several other teams still in the mix.
Unfortunately, the Packers will be without a key defender for their final two regular-seasons games.
Dean Lowry is done for the regular season after Packers placed him on IR.

They signed WR Bo Melton to the active roster. Melton is a rookie who the Seahawks drafted in the seventh round.
Green Bay also released OLB Tipa Galeai.
Green Bay Packers Injury News
EDGE Dean Lowry was placed on the IR on Tuesday due to the calf injury he picked up in Week 16. He'll be forced to miss the team's next four contests, meaning the earliest he could return is for the NFC Championship Game, if Green Bay makes it that far.
This certainly isn't ideal for the Packers as they head into an important two-game stretch. Lowry has been a dependable presence on defense since he was drafted by the team in 2016, suiting up in 111 games (80 starts) across seven seasons. He's struggled to get to the QB this year, though, recording just 0.5 sacks so far after posting a career-high mark of 5.0 in 2021.
Lowry's absence opens up a huge opportunity for rookie Devonte Wyatt to close the campaign. After seeing limited usage for much of the season, Wyatt notched a season-high in snaps (48%) with Lowry out for most of Week 16. The first-round pick will look to make an impression against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions with the playoffs on the line.
Green Bay currently has +186 odds of making the postseason, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
