There has been no shortage of surprises in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The latest one came with the No. 26 pick, when the Green Bay Packers traded up and selected Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.

The Packers are, of course, not strangers to spending a first-round pick on a potential QB of the future. Brett Favre was 36 years old, as Aaron Rodgers is now, when Rodgers was selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Rodgers and Love were even taken in a similar draft spots, with Rodgers going No. 24 overall.

The draft odds at FanDuel Sportsbook had the Packers as a big long-shot to take Love. Five teams had better odds than Green Bay: the Jacksonville Jaguars (+300), Indianapolis Colts (+400), Las Vegas Raiders (+600), New England Patriots (+600) and New Orleans Saints (+600). The Packers were +750 underdogs, barely sitting ahead of the Miami Dolphins (+800).

It will likely be at least a year or two before we see whether this pick panned out for the Packers or not, but bettors who had the Packers as Love's landing spot can certainly chalk this one up as a huge win.
