Orioles Get Disappointing Injury Update on Key Reliever

Spring Training has barely started, and the Baltimore Orioles are already getting bad news.
Orioles general manager Mike Elias revealed on Thursday that the team will be without one of its top relievers to start the season.
Elias said Dillon Tate will be out at the start of the season due to a flexor strain injury suffered in Nov. The hope is he will be back by late April or early May. Creates a hole in the bullpen initially.

Dillon Tate Injury Update
According to Elias, reliever Dillon Tate will open the season on the 10-day IL with a flexor strain that he suffered back in November. Tate is still recovering and is expected to miss most of April at minimum, leaving Baltimore shorthanded in the 'pen to begin the year.
The 28-year-old right-hander is coming off the best season of his career after posting a 3.05 ERA in 73 2/3 innings last year -- both personal bests. He may have been a bit overworked, however, as his 141 1/3 innings since the beginning of 2021 rank sixth among relief pitchers.
Tate will look to come back strong and pick up where he left off for an Orioles team that has playoff aspirations this year. Baltimore stayed in the Wild Card hunt for most of 2022 before finishing at 83-79 and figures to benefit from MLB's new balanced schedules this year, which means fewer games against their tough AL East rivals.
