The Ohio State Buckeyes had a 2020 NCAA football season to remember. The Buckeyes won their first seven games of the season, which included taking home the Big Ten Championship scoring a win over the Clemson Tigers in the Sugar Bowl. Unfortunately, their only loss came in the CFP National Championship game in the form of a 52-24 thumping by the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Nevertheless, the Buckeyes will look to continue last year's positive momentum into the upcoming season. The good news is that they're projected to have a good year as FanDuel Sportsbook is favoring them to make the 2021 College Football Playoff at -192 odds.

Ryan Day will once again be at the helm for his third full season as the Buckeyes head coach. He's coached Ohio State to a 23-2 record during his tenure, which led to College Football Playoff appearances in each of the past two seasons.

The Buckeyes lost 10 players to the 2021 NFL Draft earlier this year, including last year's starting quarterback Justin Fields. Fortunately, Ohio State has terrific recruiting and development processes that help the school churn out highly talented players at a quick rate. Day has named freshman C. J. Stroud as Fields' replacement for the year. Stroud last started a game in his senior year of high school, where he finished the campaign with 3,878 passing yards and 47 touchdowns in 9 interceptions in 13 games.

One big factor that'll affect Ohio State's season is how its offense looks. Two years ago, the Buckeyes averaged 49.2 points per game, which ranked second-best in the NCAA. However, the school averaged "only" 41.0. While that was still tied for 10th-best, you have to wonder how many points Ohio State will put up with a freshman under center. If Stroud can't handle the pressure, the rest of the team will need to step up.

Ohio State currently has +600 odds to win the 2021 national championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, which trails only Alabama (+250), Clemson (+400) and Georgia (+500).
