As the NFL offseason continues, nobody knows for certain who'll be the Denver Broncos' No. 1 quarterback once the 2021 season begins. While some Broncos fans are hoping to see Aaron Rodgers arrive in the Mile High City, that fantasy is far from a guarantee. If anything, the team's starting quarterback job will likely come down to Drew Lock and former Carolina Panthers signal-caller Teddy Bridgewater.
While Lock has been with the Broncos for the past two seasons, Bridgewater just joined the team after being acquired from the Panthers back in April. It's unclear who'll be the No. 1 quarterback, with FanDuel Sportsbook giving both men equal odds (+140) to start in Week 1 of the upcoming season.
Broncos Starting QB
Considering the equal odds, it might be a while before Broncos fans know who their starting quarterback is. On one hand, Denver could continue going with Lock, who has more familiarity with the system. However, he didn't look that great in 2020. Through 13 starts, Lock completed just 57.3% of his passes for 2,933 yards and 16 touchdowns while also throwing 15 interceptions, which was tied for most in the league.
On the other hand, Bridgewater looked much more comfortable as the Panthers top signal-caller last season. The former 2014 first-round pick started at 15 games under center for Carolina in 2020, recording 3,733 passing yards and 15 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. Another aspect that could earn Bridgewater some extra points is that his completion rating was 69.1%.
The Broncos have the 10th-best odds to win the Super Bowl at +2400, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. However, a big part of these odds is probably under the assumption that Rodgers joins the team, especially considering how Denver went 5-11 last season. It's unlikely that they'll keep these odds with Lock or Bridgewater as their top quarterback, but never say never in the NFL.
