The Philadelphia Eagles are back in primetime action in Week 10 with a Monday Night Football showdown with the Washington Commanders. With their perfect season on the line, the Eagles need all hands on deck against their division rivals, meaning many fans are wondering about cornerback Avonte Maddox's availability.

Head coach Nick Sirianni has provided an update on his CB, but it may not be what fans want to hear. The Eagles' bench boss told reporters on Saturday that "it’s not looking like [Maddox's] gonna go” against Washington on Monday, adding that he'll likely be replaced by fellow CB Josiah Scott.

Avonte Maddox Injury Update

Maddox has been sidelined with a hamstring injury suffered in Week 9 against the Houston Texans. Despite having 10 days of rest between games, the 26-year-old couldn't get healthy in time as he was held out of practice throughout the week.

Assuming he doesn't play, the former Pittsburgh Panther's absence will be felt. Suit up in six games so far, Maddox has racked up 27 tackles, three broken-up passes and a forced fumble with an interception. He's yet to allow a touchdown on 27 targets, holding opposing quarterbacks to a 77.5 passer rating — the second-best mark of his career.

As mentioned before, Scott will likely fill in for Maddox in the slot. The former 2020 fourth-rounder doesn't have much experience in a prominent role, starting only two of his 26 career games. Furthermore, he's been sidelined with an ankle injury that occurred in Week 8, leaving time to show how he handles a bigger role.

Even without Maddox, the Eagles' defense should be able to handle the Commanders. Washington owns the seventh-worst offense this season and generates the 11th-fewest passing yards. As long as the Eagles stick to what's worked, they can overcome Maddox's absence.
