Week 9 of the 2019 NFL season kicks off tonight with a "Thursday Night Football" matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals. By now, fans should have a pretty good idea of which teams are truly contenders, and which will be watching the postseason from home come January.

If you're looking to bet on this week's slate of games, here are three matchups that can potentially be exploited against the spread (ATS).

1. New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins (+3)

It's hard to believe the Dolphins, as terrible as they are this season, could be in position to win a game, but here we are. Miami is 0-7 this season, but the 1-6 Jets haven't fared much better after coming into the season with hopes on the rise. The Dolphins are 3-point home favorites, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, which arguably means the two teams are viewed as relatively equal. While the talent level for the Jets is certainly higher, that hasn't translated to wins. With potential revenge games on both sides of the ball here in Jets' head coach Adam Gase (former Dolphins' head coach) and Dolphins' starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (former Jets' starting quarterback), it's a game where anything could happen, which is honestly the best outlook the Dolphins have had all season.

2. Minnesota Vikings vs Kansas City Chiefs (+2.5)

The Kansas City Chiefs could be without Patrick Mahomes for a second straight week, but Matt Moore has performed well in his place. Last week against the Green Bay Packers, Moore posted 267 yards and two touchdowns in a tight loss. If it's Mahomes that does end up starting, that would only help the Chiefs' cause, but even with Moore under center, the spread could prove favorable. Playing at home in Arrowhead Stadium is always an advantage, and if Andy Reid can put together a similarly successful game plan that he did to face the Packers in Week 8, the Chiefs could snag sneak up on the Minnesota Vikings at home in Week 9.

3. Detroit Lions (+2) vs Oakland Raiders

The Detroit Lions are probably better than their record suggests, heading into this Week 9 matchup with the Oakland Raiders as 2-point underdogs. When comparing the Lions and Raiders by offensive and defensive output, the Lions fare better in both categories. The Lions score 25.7 points per game (PPG), while the Raiders average 21.6 PPG on offense. On the defensive end, Detroit surrenders 26.6 PPG, while Oakland gives up 27.4 PPG. If the Lions and Raiders both play similarly to the way they have through Week 8, Detroit could come out of this weekend in better shape than expected.
