NBA DFS 2/4/2022
Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Friday, 2/4, NBA DFS action.
FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 2/4
DeMar DeRozan Fantasy
Target DeMar DeRozan, SG/SF, Chicago Bulls ($9,600): DeMar DeRozan's fantasy value this season has been heavily reliant on his scoring abilities. The 13th-year veteran is averaging 26.5 points per game and has scored at least 23 in each of his last 10 games. His recent hot streak makes him a player to target tonight against an Indiana Pacers defense that is giving up 122.3 points per game over its last three contests. Keep in mind that teammate Zach Lavine is considered a game-time decision tonight due to back spasms. His absence would give DeRozan even more value tonight. It's worth paying the price to have him in your lineup tonight.
Tre Jones Fantasy
Target Tre Jones, PG, San Antonio Spurs ($4,000): This start recommendation all comes down to the health of starting point guard Dejounte Murray. Murray is dealing with a lingering wrist injury that forced him to sit out the Spurs game on Thursday night. Tre Jones took his place in the starting lineup and finished with 16 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 rebound. That kind of stat line usually isn't on the market for $4,000. Keep in mind the Houston Rockets also allow the third-most points to opposing point guards and have posted the worst defensive efficiency mark in the NBA. Sliding Jones into a starting PG slot is an underrated dart throw.
Nicolas Claxton Fantasy
Target Nicolas Claxton, PF/C, Brooklyn Nets ($5,600): Another player that is seemingly taking advantage of an injury is Brooklyn's Nicolas Claxton. The Nets big man played 29 minutes in place of veteran LaMarcus Aldridge on Wednesday night and posted 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. He was all over the court defensively and should see a similar role in tonight's action with Aldridge out again (ankle). The Utah Jazz are banged up and were forced to start Udoka Azubuike at center during their last game. The loss of Rudy Gobert suddenly makes this a matchup Claxton can exploit for another huge performance. His price may not stay this low for long.
Tobias Harris Fantasy
Avoid Tobias Harris, SF/PF, Philadelphia 76ers ($8,100): The Philadelphia 76ers face off against the Dallas Mavericks tonight in a game that features two of the bottom five NBA teams in terms of pace. That is why this game's point total of 210.5 ranks as the lowest on the slate. It's makes avoiding some of the players in this game a smart idea, including Tobias Harris. Harris has scored less than 20 points in two of his last three contests and now has to face a Dallas team that allows the second-fewest points per game to opposing power forwards (19.06). There are simply options at this price range that have a much higher ceiling than Harris.
CJ McCollum Fantasy
Avoid CJ McCollum, SG, Portland Trail Blazers ($7,700): CJ McCollum has been relied upon as the main scoring option for the Portland Trail Blazers without Damian Lillard available to play. That may seem like an upside, but the Lehigh product is shooting just 44.0% from the floor this season. That is his lowest mark since 2014. The Oklahoma City Thunder do not line up as a tough matchup, but, McCollum averages just 18.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game against OKC in his career. That is not the kind of stat line that warrants a $7,700 price tag. It'd be best to avoid putting McCollum into your starting lineup.
