Brook Lopez took his game to a new level this past season, earning the nickname "Splash Mountain" after burying a career-high 187 3-pointers, which was good enough for the 17th-highest total in the league.

Clearly, in this new era of "three is better than two," a lot of teams will likely be after the unrestricted free agent, including his most recent employer. Here are the top contenders for Lopez heading into this summer.

The Houston Rockets currently have one of the best centers in the league, but does he fit their system? Clint Capela is coming off his best season and still found himself on the bench for most of the Rockets' second-round loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 NBA Playoffs. Should Houston seek to trade Capela, the Rockets may pursue Lopez as their new floor-spacing five, while also refusing to surrender much rim protection.

The post-Dirk Nowitzki Dallas Mavericks now belong to the dynamic duo of Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, but Dallas should still be a buyer's club this summer. The Mavericks can afford Lopez after getting rid of Harrison Barnes' contract midseason, and the veteran Lopez could form quite the formidable frontcourt pairing with fellow big Porzingis.

2. Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks have one of the best young cores in the league, led by Trae Young and John Collins, but they can still use some more veteran leadership. Enter Lopez, who could replace Dewayne Dedmon and give the Hawks more offensive firepower. However, this also depends if Lopez wants to spend next season with an up-and-coming team, but Atlanta does have plenty of cash to throw at him.

As of right now, the most likely scenario for Lopez appears to be him staying put in Milwaukee and running it back with the 2018-19 regular-season Eastern Conference champion Bucks. Giannis Antetokounmpo has expressed a desire to keep this season's roster intact, which also includes unrestricted free agents Malcolm Brogdon and Nikola Mirotic, and then Khris Middleton, who has a player option. It will be tough to keep all four guys in Milwaukee, but Lopez certainly has a skill set that's hard to replace.
