The quarterback position has been a tough one for the Pittsburgh Steelers thus far in 2022. They started the season with Mitch Trubisky under center, but poor play forced head coach Mike Tomlin to make a change and go with rookie Kenny Pickett.
In Week 6 Kenny Pickett entered concussion protocol, leaving his status for Week 7 up in the air. When asked about his plans at quarterback in Week 7, Tomlin had a simple strategy – if Pickett is available, and is cleared to play, then he will be the starting quarterback.
The Steelers have seen some offensive improvement with Pickett under center, but it was Trubisky who led the team to a thrilling victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6 after coming in to replace the injured Pickett.
Tomlin doesn't want this to be a back and forth thing at quarterback though. He's made the move to go to the rookie, and as long as he is healthy, he will continue to develop and be the starter for now.
