Mike Evans Fantasy Value Remains Volatile With Bad First Half for Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5

Mike Evans has had an up-and-down fantasy football season, combining for only six receptions and 89 yards in his first two games before exploding for 279 yards and four TDs in his last two games. Week 5 has been another dud though, with Evans not catching a single pass in the first half.

Mike Evans Injury
A zero-reception, zero-yard stat line from a top wideout is not something we usually see unless they're hurt and out of the game. Evans is not injured though, and he did see two targets in the first half — he just didn't manage to catch either one.
Evans' continued struggles are especially concerning because Chris Godwin is once again turning in a more productive game than Evans. Godwin caught all four of his first targets against New Orleans, racking up 63 yards and one TD.

Evans' bounce-back performances in Weeks 3 and 4 mean that another bad game doesn't completely sink his fantasy value, but this trend is becoming hard to ignore. Godwin looks to be the much safer fantasy option on a week-to-week basis, while Evans is limited to boom-or-bust upside.
