The New York Mets begin the second half of their season in first place in the NL East, though their 47-40 record hasn't quite lived up to the expectations set for them at the start of year. Injuries have admittedly played a big factor so far, and New York could get a boost down the stretch if several key contributors return.

One of those reinforcements is on the way as third baseman/outfielder J.D. Davis will be activated off of the 60-day injured list.

J.D. Davis Injury Update

Davis has been out of the lineup since May 1 due to a sprained finger. However, he's ready to make his return barring any last-minute setbacks, which is great news for the Mets.

The 28-year-old hit 2 home runs with 7 RBIs while slashing .390/.479/.610 over his first 41 at-bats of the season. Davis' return is exactly what this struggling lineup needs to boost its run production.

The Mets currently own the fifth-best odds to win the World Series at +900, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
