Detroit Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford has been having a fringe top-12 fantasy QB season thus far ahead of Week 9 of the 2020 NFL season.

However, he and his fantasy managers were struck with harsh news this week when he reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed on the reserve list as a result.

Although after a rather quick turnaround from earlier this week, Stafford has reportedly been activated from that COVID reserve list and will now play in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Stafford's availability against the Vikings defense, which is currently allowing 411,7 yards per game (No. 29 in the NFL), certainly makes for him to be a viable streaming option on the Week 9 fantasy slate.

Even without Detroit's top receiving weapon in Kenny Golladay, the porous nature of this Vikings' secondary makes Stafford a tempting streaming option if available on the waiver wire. But as for the way his return affects other skill position players, certainly look for an increased fantasy upside for both WR Marvin Jones and tight end T.J. Hockenson.

Jones posted a season-high two touchdowns with 39 receiving yards on seven targets and three receptions in last week's matchup with the Atlanta Falcons with Golladay's absence, while Hockenson hauled in seven receptions on 10 targets for 65 yards himself.
