Success didn't come easy for the Carolina Panthers under Matt Rhule. The former college coach didn't win more than five games in each of his first two seasons, and a 1-4 start this year led to his firing after Week 5.
Reflecting on his tenure with the Good Morning Football crew, Rhule revealed one thing he wishes he would've did differently.
Rhule said he didn't do a good enough job of developing "strong relationships" with his players over his first two years. The ex-head coach added that area improved in 2022 after he had meetings with stars Christian McCaffrey and Shaq Thompson.
It's nice to see Rhule being so honest about his shortcomings in Carolina. Though his time didn't end in the way all parties hoped, everyone around the Panthers should appreciate Rhule owning up to his mistakes.
The former HC also openly campaigned for current interim head coach Steve Wilks to be seriously considered for jobs around the league.
It remains to be seen if Wilks can do enough to impress the organization and shed the interim tag. Carolina has gone 2-4 under him to this point heading into a Week 12 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
