The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies had to sit around on Wednesday, waiting for rain in the local area to clear out for Game 2 of the NLDS. The game kicked off a full three hours after originally scheduled before Atlanta captured a 3-0 win and tied the series at one game apiece.
Ever wonder what baseball players do during a rain delay? Ever wonder if that process changes during postseason baseball?
Braves first baseman Matt Olson answered those questions on Wednesday, sharing a funny story on how the team spent their time before the Game 2 win.
Game 2 Rain Delay
Olson explained that he is the commissioner of Atlanta's fantasy football league. He claimed there were "a lot of negotiations going on" during the rain delay in terms of fantasy football trades. Olson decided he "needed to make a move" and ultimately pulled it off.
The reporter's question stemmed from Travis d'Arnaud's comments that Olson "won" the trades that were going on during the delay.
Olson played coy and opted to not reveal the exact nature of this trade because he didn't want to be roasted for it "if it turns out bad," maintaining he "felt like it was the right move at the right time."
We can only begin to imagine what Olson's current fantasy roster construction looks like. Which Braves players doubled down on some Atlanta Falcons playmakers like Cordarrelle Patterson, Kyle Pitts or Drake London?
Hopefully Olson's success in fantasy football translates to the diamond as well. After tying the series, Atlanta is now a -152 favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds to win the NLDS.
