Marlins Get Good News With Jazz Chisholm Injury Update
New York Mets shortstop Jazz Chisholm has been dealing with injuries throughout the 2021 MLB season. After recently dealing with an ankle injury, fans thought Chisholm would miss more time after his right foot was hit by a pitch in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fortunately, Miami got some good news regarding the 23-year-old's latest injury update.
It seems like the swell on Chisholm's foot isn't too bad because the team announced that he would be back in the lineup for Monday's road tilt against the Boston Red Sox. Considering how he's only been back in the lineup from his previous injury since June 1, the Marlins are likely thrilled that the rookie shortstop won't miss any time.
Jazz Chisholm Injury Update
Even though Chisholm won't miss any time, the Marlins and their fans are hoping that he can snap out of the current funk at the plate that he's in. Before entering June, the rookie had a batting average of .286 on the season. Since the start of the month, Chisholm has just 4 hits in 22 at-bats and has seen his batting average drop to .264. The one bright spot is that two of those hits were home runs, but it's still an overall disappointing performance from one of Miami's bright young players.
Fortunately, Chisholm has plenty of time to turn things around. He still has 5 doubles, a triple, 7 home runs and 16 RBI on the season while slashing .264/.329/.481. If he can finally put his injuries behind him and start playing as he did at the start of the season, there's no reason why Chisholm can't get back on track.
However, even if the young shortstop manages to stay in the lineup, the Marlins are still a longshot to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's championship odds list. Their +10000 odds ranks them 23rd among the entire MLB.
