Manager Don Mattingly and the Miami Marlins have mutually agreed to part ways following the 2022 season, which now leaves the team on the search for their next skipper after a 2022 season that ended the same as many in the recent past – near the bottom of the NL East.

Joe Espada Marlins Interview

It hasn't taken long for the Marlins to start their search, and one guy they already have shown significant interest in is Astros bench coach Joe Espada, who will be interviewing for the second time on Wednesday.

Espada is no stranger to the Marlins, he is their former third-base coach and has also been a coach in their minor league system in the past.

This also isn't Espada's first run through the managerial hiring process, being considered for both the New York Mets and Oakland Athletics jobs last season, ultimately those teams went in different directions.

With Miami, Espada would get the chance to manage a young team with a lot of growing to do, but certainly not void of talent. All of his experience in the past and familiarity with the Marlins themselves, this might turn out to be the perfect fit for Espada's first job as a skipper.
