Opening Day of the 2022 MLB season is about 72 hours away, leaving fans to wonder which exciting prospects will crack their respective rosters to begin the year. Seattle Mariners followers have been eagerly awaiting official word on promising outfielder Julio Rodriguez and the status of his potential major league debut.

Rodriguez, who is the MLB's No. 3-ranked prospect, has been tearing it up in Spring Training in a push for a roster spot. The good news for Mariners fans is that their team had an exciting update on the outfielder ahead of Opening Day 2022.

Mariners Opening Day 2022

The Mariners announced Monday that Rodríguez has made the Opening Day roster. Seattle begins the 2022 MLB season on the road against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday, April 8.

Rodríguez has looked nothing short of terrific across in Spring Training. He's made 31 at-bats in 12 games so far, recording four doubles, three home runs and eight RBIs while slashing .419/.471/.839.

It's a small sample size that'd be tough to maintain throughout the regular season, but Rodríguez has proven that he has all the tools to be a future MLB All-Star one day. He'll likely be given the opportunity to be Seattle's everyday starting center fielder, leaving time to tell if he's up to the task.

Although the Mariners haven't made the playoffs in over 20 years, oddsmakers have them in the top half of the league this season. FanDuel Sportsbook is giving Seattle +3000 odds (T-No. 15) to win the 2022 World Series.

One thing is for sure: Rodríguez's ability to reach the lofty expectations placed on his shoulders will likely play a big role in any success the Mariners see this year.
