List of Cardinals Players Facing Arbitration Hearings in 2023

Friday was an important day on the MLB's offseason calendar, marking the official arbitration-filing deadline. 200 different arbitration-eligible players around all 30 clubs reached a settled contract figure for the 2023 season.

But, that left 33 players across 19 different teams hanging in the balance. By not settling on a contract figure by the deadline, the player and team then exchange respective contract figures (what they believe the player is worth for the upcoming year). The two sides can continue negotiating this figure with the hopes of reaching a deal, but this is a common start in the steps to official arbitration hearings.

The St. Louis Cardinals have two players facing potential arbitration hearings in 2023.

Cardinals Arbitration Players

1. Ryan Helsley, RP

Player Figure: $3 million
Team Figure: $2.15 million

2. Génesis Cabrera, RP

Player Figure: $1.15 million
Team Figure: $950,000

The list includes a pair of bullpen arms in Ryan Helsley and Genesis Cabrera.

Helsley is the more notable of the two names, taking over the closer duties during a ridiculous career year. The flame-thrower went 9-1 with a 1.25 ERA while saving 19 of 23 opportunities throughout the season. Cabrera is important because of his left-handed duties out of the bullpen and tossed 44.2 innings of 4.63 ERA ball.
