The Detroit Lions enter the 2022 NFL season with a revamped roster and sense of optimism. Heading into Year 2 under Dan Campbell, Detroit is poised to get off to a stronger start after going winless over its first 11 games in 2021.

Ahead of Week 1, the Lions have officially announced their captains for the 2022 campaign.

On offense, quarterback Jared Goff and center Frank Ragnow earned the nod. Ragnow was limited to just four games in 2021 due to a toe injury, but he started a combined 45 games over the three previous seasons and earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2020. Goff, meanwhile, is preparing for his second season as Detroit's signal-caller and has an upgraded receiving corps around him.

The defense features three captains in Michael Brockers, Alex Anzalone and Tracy Walker. The latter has featured prominently in the Lions' secondary for the last four seasons, while Brockers and Anzalone arrived in 2021 and made an immediate impression on their teammates.

Finally, Josh Woods has earned the C on his jersey for his special teams work. It's quite the honor for Woods, who made an impact in Detroit after being cut by the Chicago Bears early in 2021.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds peg the Lions as 3.5-point underdogs against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1.
