The Detroit Lions have undergone a rash of changes this offseason. First-year GM Brad Holmes and new head coach Dan Campbell haven't been afraid to switch things up as they try to right the wrongs of the previous regimes.

Detroit made another big shakeup on Tuesday by releasing long-time long snapper Don Muhlbach. It also happened to be his 40th birthday.

This is a major loss for the Lions after Muhlbach held down the position for 17 seasons and 260 career games. Campbell was obviously upset to make this move, but he explained that the team thought it was time for both sides to move on.

"But it just, it was time. And like I say, shoot, man, I wish him the best, him and his family. He’s a stud and I hate that we had to be the ones to do this."

Muhlbach has played the second-most games for Detroit in the franchise's history. He latched on with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2004 and went on to earn two Pro Bowl nods in 2012 and 2018.

Mulbach's departure leaves behind Scott Daly as the only current LS on the roster. The 27-year-old is in line to make his NFL debut this year if he becomes the Lions' starter.
