JuJu Smith-Schuster's NFL career has been an absolute roller coaster. Following a promising rookie campaign, JuJu broke out in year two, recording 111 catches for 1,426 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. But he's never been able to live up to that hype, tallying 1,512 receiving yards in his three subsequent seasons.
Still just 25 years old, JuJu is a really interesting reclamation project. He's probably not signing a massive deal anywhere this offseason, but he could take a one-year deal to go to the right situation and rehab his value around the league.
Here are the three most likely destinations for the Steelers' wideout.
3. Buffalo Bills
Emmanuel Sanders is an impending free agent this offseason, and Cole Beasley isn't a lock to be back either. If the Buffalo Bills lose one or both of those two, targeting JuJu would make a ton of sense. He's a physical, possession receiver who just knows how to move the chains. That skillset makes him a great complement to Stefon Diggs and emerging deep threat Gabriel Davis. And few quarterbacks would put JuJu in a better position to succeed than Josh Allen. If he's willing to take a discounted, short-term deal, signing in Buffalo would be a win-win move for both sides.
2. New York Jets
If JuJu is looking for a big role and contract, he could get both from the New York Jets. He'd form a really interesting trio alongside Elijah Moore and Corey Davis, and this is the type of signing New York can afford to make. The Jets have $47 million in cap space (fifth most in the NFL) and it's important they spend that money surrounding Zach Wilson with more talent. Landing in New York feels like a sneaky-good fit for JuJu.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs made a run at JuJu this offseason, but he ultimately decided to return to Pittsburgh. You have to think Kansas City is still interested in the 25-year-old. The Chiefs have had a big hole at WR2 ever since Sammy Watkins left, and no one on the roster has really stepped up and grabbed hold of that job. Signing JuJu would address that spot in a hurry. And being the WR2 on a Patrick Mahomes-led offense feels like a great way for JuJu to set himself up for a big-time contract next season. This move almost makes too much sense, and there are already JuJu-to-KC rumors popping up around the internet.
