The Pittsburgh Steelers released Steven Nelson after a solid season for the team in 2020. Now a few weeks removed from the 2021 NFL Draft, there are still plenty of cornerback-needy teams in the league, and there aren't many better available options than Nelson.

In fact, recent reports have indicated that as many 14 teams are interested in signing Nelson. With that in mind, here are the three most likely destinations for Nelson in free agency.

Steven Nelson Free Agency Rumors

3. New York Jets

Most thought the New York Jets would add some cornerback help on Day 1 or Day 2 of the NFL Draft. But the team's draft-day trade up for Alijah Vera-Tucker severely limited the organization's draft capital, as New York had to surrender its two third-round picks. When the dust settled, the Jets didn't end up getting any help in the secondary until Round 5. Nelson could be the veteran presence that this unit needs. He'd be a great get for Robert Saleh's CB-needy defense.

2. Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are one of the teams reportedly interested in Nelson, and it's not hard to see why. The organization had to move on from Kyle Fuller to clear salary cap space this offseason, leaving the team without much CB talent beyond second-year player Jaylon Johnson. Nelson could be a great mentor for Johnson and add some much-needed depth to this secondary.

1. Buffalo Bills

Having spent the first six years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs, Nelson has only been on a team with fewer than 10 wins once in his entire NFL career. It's hard to imagine the 28-year-old joining up with a team that isn't a playoff contender. The Buffalo Bills currently have the third-best odds to win the Super Bowl, so they certainly meet that criteria. Plus, Buffalo has a clear need at cornerback. Signing Nelson would give the team an imposing one-two punch with 2019 All-Pro Tre'Davious White.
