LeSean McCoy Fantasy Value Explodes With Two Touchdowns Despite Week 3 Injury

Many fantasy owners were left scratching their heads, over whether or not to start LeSean McCoy in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens. Despite Damien Williams sitting for the game with a knee injury, McCoy was also not 100 percent, batting an ankle injury. To top it off, an ESPN report emerged before the game claiming that Darrell Williams was going to start the game based on pregame warmups.
Based off pregame warmups, Darrel Williams will start at RB for the Chiefs today. He was first in and RB line and was followed in order by rookie Darwin Thompson and LeSean McCoy. McCoy was on the injury report this week because of a sore ankle. The... https://t.co/tE3894ema7

While McCoy shuffled in and out of the lineup with Williams, it is the older vet who has emerged for fantasy football purposes against the Ravens. Shady scored two touchdowns in the game, one by and ground and one via the air, looking more spry and agile than his pregame injury status would have had some believe.
Despite his touchdown outburst, McCoy was still limited to 11 touches during the game and looked to aggravate his ankle injury early in the beginning of the fourth quarter.

McCoy's ankle injury should be something to monitor, and with uncertainty around whether Williams will return next week when the Chiefs face the Lions on the road, the KC backfield situation could be just as cloudy in Week 4 as it was in Week 3. If Shady can avoid a serious setback with his ankle, however, he may have done enough through three weeks to earn a more stabilized role in the Chiefs' offense going forward.
It will be highly dependent on how the Chiefs use Williams upon his return, especially in scoring situations, but McCoy still may have tremendous value as the lead back for the best offense in football. On the other hand, for those concerned about his ankle and the inevitable return of Williams, McCoy is an ideal sell-high candidate following the two-score week.
