The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are making a change at running back. Leonard Fournette has officially jumped Ronald Jones on the depth chart after being named the starter in a marquee matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.

Of course, this causes his fantasy football outlook to improve.

Leonard Fournette Fantasy Outlook

The rise of Fournette may have to do with the struggles of Jones more than anything else. The fifth-year pro has had a terrible start to the season racking up just 50 total yards on 11 touches. Jones has also lost a fumble already and seems to be rubbing the coaching staff the wrong way.

Meanwhile, Fournette has seen 20 carries across two games and is averaging a solid 4.2 yards per carry. His work in the passing game may be more telling, though. The Tampa Bay ball-carrier has hauled in 9 of 11 targets for 51 yards, which gives him a boost in PPR scoring fantasy leagues.

This is Fournette's best opportunity to showcase his ability to take on a monster workload. Keep in mind it wasn't too long ago that the 26-year-old ran for over 1,100 yards in a season. That was back in 2019, when Fournette took on a whopping 265 carries with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Taking on the Rams' defense will be no easy task. However, the Rams have only posted the 19th-best rush defense DVOA rating in 2021. That pales in comparison to the third-best mark they posted last season. This game is going to be a battle and Fournette should see carries up until the final whistle.

Head coach Bruce Arians hasn't stated whether or not this will be a one-time thing or a season-long change. No matter what, Fournette has RB2 upside moving forward as his workload continues to increase.

Fournette checks in at RB34 in The Duel's rest-of-season fantasy rankings.
