Le'veon Bell's first season with the New York Jets has been a bit of a disappointing one, both in terms of his real-world impact and his fantasy football value.

Things could get even worse ahead of a would-be great matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 14, as Bell has come down with an illness and may not play. His absence would provide a huge boost to Bilal Powell's fantasy outlook.

Averaging 14.8 PPR fantasy points per game puts Bell at 15th among running backs this season, and he's only topped 20 fantasy points once since Week 2. In that time he has also fallen below 10 PPR points on two occasions.

He has still handled a strong workload though. He's averaging 20.9 opportunities (15.3 carries plus 5.6 targets) per game. That means his absence would open up a ton of volume in the backfield, both in the rushing and passing game.

Powell's versatility positions him well to pick up the slack in both areas. He barely played in the first half of the season, but over the last four weeks he's topped a 20 percent snap share three times, and in the last three games he's seen an average of 5.3 carries and 2.0 targets.

With a matchup against the Dolphins on tap, this backfield's appeal is at an all-time high as well. Miami ranks dead last in Football Outsiders' defensive DVOA rankings and the Dolphins have allowed the league's fifth-most PPR fantasy points to opposing RBs

Accounting for Bell playing in full, he checks in at RB3 in our Week 14 PPR fantasy football rankings. If he sits, expect Powell to vault into the top 24 as a surefire starter.
