The Minnesota Twins currently lead the American League Central division with a 53-48 record. It's going to take everything they got to hold off the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox, though. Finding a way to get a leg up on the competition at the MLB trade deadline is a must.

Minnesota Twins Trade Rumors

Starting pitching reigns supreme in the playoffs and the position is a glaring need for Minnesota. The Twins rank 19th in MLB with a rotation ERA of 4.19. Keep in mind their front office has to be smart here given the team only has one top 100 prospect and it's an injured shortstop in Royce Lewis.

That's what makes Los Angeles Angels' starter Noah Syndergaard an intriguing target. The 29-year-old enters free agency in the offseason, which means the price to acquire him shouldn't be too high. When at his best, Syndergaard has the stuff to be a No. 3 starter behind Joe Ryan and Sonny Gray.

Syndergaard's velocity is down in 2022 and it has forced him to rely on his control much more than before. He owns a 5-8 record on the season with a 3.83 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 15 starts. The pitcher nicknamed "Thor" has also logged 64 strikeouts compared to 22 walks in 80.0 innings.

It's worth noting that Dylan Bundy has an ERA north of 5.00 on the year and veteran Chris Archer cannot make it past five innings of work anymore. Depending on them in a playoff series is risky to say the least.

The MLB trade deadline is set for 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, August 2. For now, the Twins have odds set at +160 to win the AL Central and odds set at +5000 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
