At this point last year, Zion Williamson already seemed destined to be the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. This season, there are a number of players that could make a case for the top overall selection. As of now, Memphis' James Wiseman and North Carolina's Cole Anthony are tied atop the odds to be selected first overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, at +125, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Despite the fact he is dealing with eligibility issues at Memphis this season, there is no doubt Wiseman is a top candidate to be the first player taken off the board in June's draft. The 7-foot 1-inch freshman is a physical freak that is also able to smoothly run the floor. His versatile skill set is one nearly every potential lottery team competing for the first pick could use. In his three games at Memphis (he is currently ineligible until Jan. 12), he has averaged 19.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game.

Anthony, on the other hand, is an athletically-gifted point guard whose skill set should easily translate to the pros. Averaging 20.7 points so far in his freshman season at North Carolina, Anthony is a natural scorer, possessing the ability to create his own shot from anywhere, including around the rim.

One notable name that continues to improve his odds is LaMelo Ball, now sitting at +380, an improvement from his +420 odds at the beginning of October. The 6-foot 7-inch, 18-year-old guard is averaging 24.3 points on 42 percent shooting playing in Australia's pro league (NBL) over the past four games. He has added 9.3 assists and 9.3 rebounds per game to round out this impressive stat line in that same span. Ball has quickly worked his way into the top-pick conversation.

Georgia guard Anthony Edwards will also certainly be part of the conversation moving forward. He currently has the third-best odds to be selected No. 1 at +250. Although, these odds could surely shift throughout the season based on both the performance of each player and which teams end up at the top of the NBA Draft order.
