Kris Bryant's journey with the Chicago Cubs seemed to begin at its peak during his first two seasons in the league, after a Rookie of the Year Award and an MVP. Things have gone downhill since then, and that has clouded his future with the organization.

Trade rumors first began to mount around the star third baseman in 2019, but heading towards 2021 Bryant is still a Cub. Now on the final year of his arbitration contract, a deal has become more likely than ever, being that Bryant's relationship with Chicago has deteriorated beyond repair.

Here are the three franchises that are in the best position to trade for KB.

3. Los Angeles Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner is now an unrestricted free agent, and at age 36 it's possible that the reigning champs may look to get younger at the position. This may be the cheapest that Bryant's value has dropped since being on the block, and the Dodgers are one of the few teams that can afford his 18 million dollar contract in 2021. Never count LAD out when a star has become available.

2. Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies have become big spenders in recent years, but all the money has not helped the team make the playoffs. With J.T. Realmuto possibly leaving in free agency, the Phillies will need to make some sort of splash to keep up with the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets this offseason, and that splash could be Bryant. Philadelphia has been a rumored candidate for the Cubs corner infielder for years now, and a mutual change of scenery could see Rhys Hoskins flipped for Bryant.

1. New York Mets

Ever since Steve Cohen purchased the New York Mets, they have dominated the MLB news cycle. NYC's younger sibling has just become the richest team in baseball, and with most franchises hurt by COVID-19, the Mets have an obvious advantage this offseason. All of the top free agents and trade candidates will seemingly check in with Sandy Alderson and Cohen before making any moves. That includes Kris Bryant and Chicago. The Mets have a slight hole at third base, with utility men J.D. Davis and Jeff McNeil splitting time there most of 2020. With enough money to extend Bryant and a need at the position long-term, the Mets immediately top the list of candidates.
