People use a number of strategies and statistics to make their predictions during March Madness. And there's one trend that suggests a Virginia Cavaliers' win over the Oregon Ducks on Thursday.

That's right, Virginia is 26-0 straight up this season against opponents ranked outside the top 15 in the KemPom ratings, a clear indication of their dominance over such teams. And Oregon ranks No. 28 in that rating system.

The Ducks, who are the No. 12 seed in the South region, are the lone double-digit seed left in an NCAA tournament that has largely gone chalk thus far. But Oregon may be the hottest team out there, riding a 10-game winning streak and playing some of the best defense in the tournament.

As impressive as the Ducks have been, Virginia is a different caliber of team from what Oregon has faced during its winning streak. Virginia was dominant throughout the regular season, only losing to No.-1-overall-seed Duke two times, on its way to a regular-season ACC championship.

The Cavaliers' greatest strength is arguably its ability to control the defensive end of the court. They finished with the No. 1-ranked scoring defense in the nation, giving up 55.0 points per game (PPG) while allowing opponents to shoot 38.4 percent from the floor.

Virginia's defensive prowess has been a huge reason for its dominance against teams outside of the KenPom top 15. It's incredibly hard for anyone to crack the Cavaliers' defense, suggesting a -440 moneyline bet on Virginia could be a good bet come Thursday.
