Fourteen NFL teams are currently preparing for the playoffs, while the NFL's other 18 squads are looking toward free agency and the NFL Draft. However, a few franchises need to find a person to run their football operations before getting too deep into the offseason.
The Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals are two teams in search of a new general manager. One of the hot names in the GM search is San Francisco 49ers assistant GM Adam Peters. Both the Titans and the Cardinals requested to interview Peters for their respective open GM spots, but he declined.
Ian Rapoport claims Peters choice to decline the interviews was not out of disrespect for those organizations or job opportunities, but merely because he wants to focus on the 49ers during their playoff run.
That sure seems like a polite way to say thanks, but no thanks. If he was really that invested in the 49ers but also interested in the job, he could have requested an interview to happen after the playoffs. Maybe he did and the teams declined that request in hopes they can find the right candidate sooner rather than later.
