Kevin Stefanski Issues Strong Response to Kareem Hunt Amid Trade Drama
By Larry Rupp

Running back Kareem Hunt made NFL headlines on Friday when he officially requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns. That request was denied and Hunt subsequently held himself out of team drills for two days. Head coach Kevin Stefanski recently addressed the drama with a strong response.

Stefanski spoke with reporters prior to Sunday's practice and stressed that despite everything going on, this has been a "normal" offseason. He simply brushed off questions about consequences for Hunt's actions or about the RB being all-in, though. Stefanski did point to one thing he didn't like.
“If our players are healthy, they practice."

Of course, this statement was geared toward the fact that Hunt only took part in individual drills to start the weekend. The 27-year-old then returned to the team on Sunday and seemingly split first-team snaps with starter Nick Chubb. Hunt also ran sprints in the heat with Cleveland quarterbacks.
The Browns' front office was quick to deny Hunt's request, mainly because it believes he is in for a big season. The former Toledo standout is in the final year of a two-year contract extension and could make up to $6.2 million in 2022. Another solid campaign would obviously land him a huge free agent deal.
Hunt has been used as a complementary back during his time spent in Cleveland much more than he has been used as a backup. He logged 560 yards from scrimmage and 5 touchdowns in an injury-riddled 2021 season (8 games). Hunt posted a 1,145 yards from scrimmage and 11 TD in 2020.
Team-building activities are on the schedule for Browns players on Tuesday, so it'll be interesting to see if Hunt is present or not. For now, Cleveland has odds set at +2400 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
