After a decade full of memories with the Tampa Bay Rays, defensive specialist outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is sticking in the AL East. He recently signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays worth $9 million.
Despite switching sides to a longtime rival, Kiermaier is clearly excited about this next step. He took to Twitter for a special messages to the Blue Jays fanbase.
Fraught with exclamation marks and various ALL CAPS text, Kiermaier shared his excitement about the signing. He promised to "care as much" as anybody else on the field any given day and is excited about the prospect of winning.
The move was a smart one for Toronto. Not only did the front office add a layer of supreme defense to the outfield, but accomplished an important goal of adding a lefty bat to the lineup. Kiermaier is a career 248/.308/.407 hitter and stole at least 10 bags five different times in his career.
