Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams returned from a hamstring injury in Week 5, but that doesn't mean their receiving corps is back at full health. Keenan Allen went down with a back injury on Monday night, and that gives Williams' fantasy football outlook a huge boost.

Available in 60% of Yahoo fantasy football leagues, that boost means he's an outstanding waiver wire target this week.

Mike Williams Fantasy Outlook

Allen is typically a target hog in the Chargers offense. Through Week 4 he was averaging a massive 12.0 targets per game, and even including Week 5 his 50 targets are a full 15 more than anyone else on the team has seen.

With Allen vacating a ton of looks on Monday, Williams saw 8 targets while playing 77% of the Chargers' offensive snaps. Always a high-upside deep threat, it wasn't too surprising to see Williams turn that workload into 5 receptions, 109 yards and 2 touchdowns.

His downfield usage (17.5-yard average depth of target) will always make him a boom-or-bust producer, but the upside with Allen out is undeniable. He even offers solid value when Allen plays, as we saw with his 9-target showing in Week 1.

The Chargers are on bye, so we probably won't get any concrete updates on Allen's status for the Chargers next game until early next week.
