Wide receiver Kadarius Toney's rookie season was anything but smooth as he dealt with various injuries and COVID-19 related issues. What may have been the most concerning aspect was his tendency to skip voluntary team activities and that has continued during the 2022 offseason as well.

New York Giants News

Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters on Wednesday that Toney has not been present at voluntary pre-draft minicamp. He hasn't even received the playbook yet since the Giants have done nothing from a virtual perspective. Fans looking for answers are rightfully getting a bit anxious at this point.

Of course, Daboll adamantly stressed that workouts remain voluntary for the time being. Not seeing a first-round pick eager to get back to work isn't something that typically happens, though. That's especially the case when a new coaching staff is brought in along to bring about change on offense.

Toney showed flashes of greatness in 2021, posting back-to-back contests with at least 6 receptions for 78 yards in Weeks 4 & 5. His failure to stay healthy cost him a lot of playing time as he ended up appearing in just 10 games. Overall, the Florida product racked up 426 total yards on 42 touches.

The Giants cannot afford for Toney to become the latest bust in a growing list of underwhelming draft picks. All of the publicity that surrounds the 23-year-old remains negative. It would go a long way for Toney to put together a meaningful training camp in the summer as one of the team's top targets.

The Giants remains long shots in the odds to win Super Bowl 57 at +8000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
