Justin Reid Can't Contain Excitement Over Chiefs' Defense

The Kansas City Chiefs' offense is typically one of the NFL's best each season. The same couldn't be said about the team's defense last year, which got off to a historically awful start. They've since made some defensive changes this offseason, including signing safety Justin Reid to a three-year, $31.5 million deal.
Reid, who's replacing Tyrann Mathieu as Kansas City's new starting safety, believes that the defense can be much better in 2022. He went as far as telling reporters on Thursday that "this is, undoubtedly, going to be the most fun defense I've played in so far."

Reid even described the defense as being "electric," which is the opposite word that fans would use in recent years. He seems to have a lot of confidence in the group, though, which is what's needed for a turnaround to happen.
"I love it, man. It's electric, this defense. We got guys coming from all over the place, coverage spinning in different directions."

Replacing a four-time All-Pro safety like Mathieu will be hard, but Reid has proven that he has potential. The 16 receptions and 53.3% completion percentage he gave up on 30 targets over 13 games last year were the lowest of his four-season career while also recording four defended passes and two interceptions.
Keep in mind that Reid, a former 2018 third-round pick, is only 25 years old. His best years could be ahead of him and playing for a franchise like the Chiefs should help him improve himself both on and off the field.
The odds are looking promising for Reid to get the full Chiefs experience in the 2022 NFL season. Kansas City currently owns the third-best Super Bowl LVII odds (+950) on FanDuel Sportsbook, trailing only the Buffalo Bills (+650) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+750).
