When the Chicago Bears selected Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields at No. 11 in the 2021 NFL Draft, the team's fan base couldn't have been more excited. After all, the rookie signal-caller has an insane amount of skill and potential. However, sometimes such fanfare can go to a player's head, causing them to demand an important role on the team right away.

Fortunately for Bears fans, that's not the case with Fields. He knows that he has to prove himself to the team. Even though he could be Chicago's QB1 by the end of the season, Fields told reporters at a press conference on Friday that "I'm going to do everything that I can to get that starting job."

Bears Starting QB 2021

The Bears already had Andy Dalton and Nick Foles on their quarterback depth chart before Fields was even drafted. When it comes to Dalton, he only signed in Chicago because he was guaranteed to be the starter, so he'll likely see several games before Fields gets a regular-season look. However, the rookie's impressive attitude has him ready to put the work in for whenever his number is called.

"It's not up to me, coach Nagy has a set plan on my development and stuff like that. I'm just gonna work hard and keep my head down and just keep grinding it out everyday."

Justin Fields, Bears QB

It's this type of attitude that Bears fans should get behind. The fact that Fields is a hard worker only adds to his resume. After all, nobody ever doubted his skills on the field.

He recorded an impressive 5,373 passing yards for 63 touchdowns to 9 interceptions in two seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also a force in the running game, rushing for 867 yards and scoring another 15 TDs on the ground during that span.

Fields is one of the most exciting rookies to look forward to ahead of the 2021 NFL season. He currently has the 2nd-best odds to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award (+500), according to FanDuel Sportsbook, only trailing 1st overall pick Trevor Lawrence (+270)

It's always exciting when you have a player of Fields' potential on your team. And it's that much more thrilling when you know he has a good work ethic to go along with everything else.
