JuJu Smith-Schuster is coming off a down year, but don't let that overshadow just how dominant he was back in 2018. He turned 166 targets into 111 receptions, 1,426 receiving yards and 7 scores, building a reputation as a physical, possession receiver.

And it seems his hard-nosed approached to playing the receiver position could've come from back in his high school days. Because he was actually a pretty highly-touted safety back in the day.

That's right, apparently, JuJu was a highly-touted safety in high school. Credit to Reddit user R3MD for finding this gem.

This experience also helps explain why he's such a physical blocker, as evidenced by this hit he put on Vontaze Burfict once upon a time.

Given his tough, physical style of play, it should really come as no surprise that JuJu was a standout on the defensive side of the ball.
