The Indianapolis Colts got one of the steals of the draft, taking Jonathan Taylor with the No. 41 overall pick in the second round. Coming off a remarkably prolific three-year career at Wisconsin, Taylor could be an extremely valuable fantasy option from day one in Indianapolis.
Jonathan Taylor Fantasy Value
Of course, Taylor's fantasy value will inherently be tied to his usage with the Colts, and he could be mired in a timeshare with Marlon Mack. Last season, Mack tallied 1,173 yards from scrimmage and 8 total touchdowns. While his statistics are impressive, it's impossible to separate Mack's production from the offense he was playing in.
The Colts had the league's second-best run-blocking unit last year, according to Pro Football Focus, and when Mack missed time due to injuries, his back-ups didn't miss a beat. In Weeks 11-12, Jonathan Williams averaged 110.0 rushing yards per game. Running behind an elite offensive line, Taylor has major upside – particularly if Mack goes down again.
A three-year starter for the Badgers, Taylor handled at least 299 carries and racked up at least 2,072 yards from scrimmage in each of his three seasons in Wisconsin.
Taylor is the RB2 in our post-draft rookie dynasty rankings. Combining his prodigious talent with a fantastic landing spot, he's got a real chance to finish as a top-20 back in the 2020 season.
