The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to roll through training camp with some important financial decisions to make regarding their defense. The top priority may fall on locking up stud linebacker T.J. Watt for an extension.
However, the Steelers must also make a decision regarding veteran cornerback Joe Haden.
Haden and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, may force Pittsburgh to make a decision sooner than later when it comes to his contract extension. According to reports, Rosenhaus has approached the team in order to work out a deal for the three-time Pro Bowler.
Joe Haden Contract
Haden is set to play his fifth year in Pittsburgh at 31 years old this season, and he's established himself as an important cog to the secondary. After coming over from the Browns in 2017, Haden's already earned one extension back in 2019 (two-year, $22 million).
According to Haden, it's all about finishing things out with the Steelers. He recently revealed his desire to end his career in Pittsburgh, per an interview with The Athletic's Mark Kaboly. In the same interview response, Haden discussed the importance of locking up Watt first.
"We will see what happens, but we want to get T.J. Watt signed first, obviously. He’s the main priority."- Joe Haden
In four years with Pittsburgh, Haden has recorded 10 interceptions, 48 passes defended and two forced fumbles.
